Introducing Legacy Forward
A new newsletter and a new chapter
Hi everyone,
I’m excited to announce that I’ve launched a new newsletter connected with my new business, Legacy Forward, a bespoke family archiving service.
In December, I shared that I was wrapping up Library Social Work. Over the past six months, I’ve been moving gradually into this next chapter, returning to the archival and preservation work that first shaped my professional life more than fifteen years ago. Today simply marks the moment when I’m officially launching Legacy Forward.
The Legacy Forward newsletter is a continuation of that transition. While my nearly decade-long focus on library social work has come to a close, the values that guided that work remain central. This newsletter is a reflective space offering clear, practical guidance for people who care deeply about their photographs, letters, recordings, and family materials, but are not sure where to begin.
I’ll share approaches drawn from professional archival practice and lived experience:
caring for meaningful objects without perfectionism
making thoughtful decisions about what to keep or let go
taking small, intentional steps without overwhelm
This is not about doing everything at once.
It is about preserving what matters at a pace that fits real lives.
If this next chapter resonates, I hope you will join me there.
Warmly,
Sarah
