Why do a podcast about Library Social Work?
Like a good librarian, I love sharing quality information.
Since 2017, I have dedicated the bulk of my research to investigating, writing, advising, and educating others about Library Social Work. Over the past seven years, I've had the privilege of connecting with dozens of social workers, librarians, students, researchers, and peer support specialists engaged in these cross-disciplinary collaborations. Many of them have generously shared their expertise as guest lecturers in my online Library Social Work course at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s School of Information Sciences.
My work has involved countless hours of qualitative research and projects, such as creating handbooks and trainings for library supervisors of social work students through the Social Work Informed Library Services in New Jersey. I've published a book (alongside Dr. Beth Wahler) and numerous peer-reviewed articles on this topic in both library and social work journals. With such a wealth of information and connections at hand, I want to share this valuable content freely to those who want to learn more about Library Social Work through a podcast platform.
I'll be recording my first episode this Friday, aiming to release it in mid to late July. Here's a sneak peek at some of the incredible guests you can look forward to hearing from on the show:
